      his course is designed to provide the Microsoft ®
      Windows NT®
      4.0 support professional with the knowledge and skills necessary to
      administer and support the Windows®
      2000 Server and Windows 2000 Professional operating systems.
      The topics covered in this course include: 
      
        - Introduction to the features and benefits of Windows 2000,
          including Active Directory, Microsoft Management Console, and new
          hardware support
 
        - Installing Windows 2000
 
        - Exploring the logical and physical structure of Active Directory
 
        - Implementing a domain name system (DNS) namespace
 
        - Implementing Active Directory, including site planning and domain
          tree modeling
 
        - Administering objects in Active Directory
 
        - Using software installation policy
 
        - Managing file and print resources, including implementing the
          distributed file system (DFS) and securing resources with Windows NT
          File System (NTFS) permissions
 
        - Implementing security
 
        - Configuring Dial-Up Networking
 
        - Supporting Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Windows
          Internet Naming Service (WINS)
 
        - Managing dynamic volumes

      At the completion of this course, students will be able to describe the
      new features in Windows 2000 and the advantages they provide; install
      Windows 2000 Server; explain the structure of Active Directory; install
      and configure the DNS service; plan Active Directory and install the
      Active Directory service; manage objects in Active Directory; deploy
      software using software installation policy; manage file and print
      resources; configure security, audit resources, and monitor network
      access; configure Dial-Up Networking; install and support DHCP and WINS;
      create and manage dynamic volumes; implement disaster protection;
      troubleshoot operating system, hardware, and network problems as they
      relate to Windows 2000; and upgrade a network from Windows NT 4.0 to
      Windows 2000.

      Prerequisites 
      
      Course 803, Administering Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, or
        equivalent skills and knowledge. This
      includes creating and administering user and group accounts, managing
      network resources, setting up and administering permissions for files and
      folders, creating and administering printers, using auditing functions to
      generate and view security logs, monitoring network resources to track
      usage and disk space, and backing up and restoring files and folders.
      Course 922, Supporting Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Core Technologies,
        or equivalent skills and knowledge. This
      includes installing and configuring the Windows NT operating system;
      implementing system policies; creating and managing partitions, file
      systems, and fault-tolerant volumes; configuring network protocols and
      services; implementing remote-access services (RAS); implementing and
      troubleshooting directory replication; recognizing problems related to the
      boot process; and resolving common problems.
      Experience supporting networks, including supporting dynamic host
        configuration protocol (DHCP), Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS),
